I love butter in all its simplicity, and I am the first to contend that it be the one and only member of its own food group, but there is something even better than butter, and that’s flavored butter. The following three flavored butter recipes use herbs, spices, sweeteners and other ingredients to take butter and make it that much better. Their uses are endless and their taste, timeless. Enjoy!

1. Goat Cheese and Garlic Butter

This butter is ideal for bread but can be used to give anything your eating, such as potatoes, French fries, meat and even popcorn, an extra edge. Makes 1/2 cup.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 4 oz. soft goat cheese
  • 4 roasted garlic cloves
  • Dash of salt
  • Dash of black pepper

Directions

Place all ingredients into a food processor and pulse a few times until the garlic cloves are adequately broken down and evenly combined.

2. Honey Butter

This one is a classic and works best with warm bread and great for when you’re looking for a sweeter touch. Makes 1/2 cup.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Dash of cinnamon

Directions

Use a food processor or a whisk to evenly combine all ingredients.

3. Mustard and Chives Butter

I like to serve this butter at parties, because it’s an easy way to keep people coming back to the snack table for more. It’s great with bread, crackers, and meat. Makes 1/2 cup.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown mustard
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped chives
  • Dash of sea salt

Directions

Use a food processor or a whisk to evenly combine all ingredients.
