Organic Valley’s new advertising campaign has taken a distinctly different route than the norm when appealing to women: rather than show the perfect mornings of yoga and relaxed breakfasts that we all aspire to, the new ad for the Organic Valley protein shake shows the truth behind a woman’s morning, with a heavy dose of sardonic humor. The stress, the harried departures, the quick (or nonexistent) breakfast — it’s all in this new ad, and yes, it’s backed by statistics.
“There seems to be a growing disconnect between the perfect way women’s lives are portrayed on social media and in many commercials, and what our busy, hectic lives really look like,” Nicole Mydy, innovation manager for Organic Valley, told Adweek with regards to this ad.
Some of the surprising truths revealed in the ad include the following:
- 36 percent of women re-wear dirty clothes
- 33 percent never make their beds
- 21 percent check their work email before getting out of bed
- 58 percent swear at someone or something every the morning
- hair, shower, and makeup outrank breakfast in order of importance
Of course, the one thing that all of these women do have time for a morning balance shake.
Organic Valley’s balance shake is made with simple ingredients: low-fat and unfiltered organic skim milks, vanilla, sugar, lactase, and stevia. The shake contains 16 grams of organic milk protein and half the recommended daily allowance of calcium, and it is gluten-free and lactose-free.
The 90-second ad, called the “Real Morning Report,” was created by Humanaut, also behind Organic Valley’s “Save the Bros” campaign based on a February 2016 poll of 1,000 American women between the ages of 25 and 54 conducted by SoundView Research. Of course, many of us don’t need the statistical proof to know that some of these facts are true.
