On Sunday nights, I indulge in one of my longstanding vices: an hour of shutting out the world to watch Iron Chef America on the Food Network.

For the uninitiated, it’s a culinary battle between two prominent chefs, who have one hour to prepare five courses that contain a secret ingredient, revealed only minutes before the challenge begins.

Watching the chefs sweat under the hot studio lights is almost as much fun as dreaming up what I’d do with the secret ingredient if I entered Kitchen Stadium. And now I have my chance to show “whose cuisine reigns supreme,” to quote the show’s famous Chairman. Iron Chef America: Supreme Cuisine is available for Nintendo DS and Wii.

Players must survive intense, fast-paced culinary challenges, according to the game’s developers. With each victory, they advance closer to a final showdown for the Iron Chef title.

Iron Chef Mario Batali says he’s delighted to be part of the game.

“My video game counterpart is as passionate and competitive in the virtual Kitchen Stadium as I am in real life,” he notes, “and I think the participation of Chef Morimoto and I adds a great level of authenticity to the game.”

Bring it, Mario. I’m ready for you! Organic risotto, anyone?
