The girl scouts should look into an organic line of cookies. You might get lots of fundraising from that because the customers that are big donaters are also the ones that tend to spend more on organic and avoid crappy ingredient cookies.

Personally, if my girl were to join girl scouts, I think it would be fun to bake fresh, homemade cookies to sell for fundraising. I know that some states have laws that outlaw bake sales to protect the corporate bakery manufacturer industry.

I am happy to hear that the government will put a “USDA Certified Biobased Product” label on certain products to show that they do not contain synthetics. It is another step toward living in an eco-friendly, healthier environment. The personal care products like cosmetics and the household cleaning items that we use every day will be healthier. Some of the cleaning products I use, state that their bottles are biodegradable, and the chemicals are not harmful. They will be certified as biobased products in the future, if they fit the rules of USDA I guess. We will see the new products as they get approved.

I think they should set up the laws clearly. The thing is I am sure some Organic farmers are abusing these rules about \cage free\ or \free range\ animal products, since they are not stated clear enough. It may not be illegal, but it is definitely unethical. It makes me think that maybe I should just be a vegetarian, and not worry about the chicken or the beef that I am buying is Organic or not. Unfortunately, I don't think it is humane for the poor animals not to go outside and be grass fed. I hope these farmers realize how cruel it is for the animals.

That's pretty surprising to hear. I never looked at the nutritional facts on a box of Girl Scout cookies, but just assumed they were as unhealthy as any other cookie. It's ashame because I love the way they taste.
