Take a Recess!

Suffering from dry, chapped and/or scaly summer feet and hands?

How about a “Southern Secret”: a pink lemonade aromatherapy soak, exfoliating key lime scrub, hydrating lavender paraffin wrap and berry fusion moisturizer massage?

That’s just one of the pampering treatments available at Recess, a completely green nail spa in Los Angeles.

Nail technicians use products featuring hand-blended organic ingredients that are free of formaldehyde, parabens and dyes.

Only metal instruments are used (and promptly autoclaved), and foot files, buffers and orangewood sticks are never reused. Nail polish is toluene-free.

New customers can enjoy a $50 Basic Manicure/Pedicure Special. The salon will eventually launch an online store for product purchases.

Having inherited dry, callused heels, the pina colada callus treatment is definitely something I would try. I just came across this blog from searching “organic blogs” on google and i am very glad I found it. i share your mission to educate people about how to go green, especially with their beauty routine. I just posted, “Can you afford not to go organic?” I hope you have the time to check it out. Thanks.

I used to have the same problem, Robin. I bought a Diamancel file, and I’ve cured a condition that plagued me for years. The file is expensive, and you still need to moisturize, but it’s worth it.

“Recess is NOT an Organic Nail Spa or even a Natural Nail Spa” The trend of ‘3-Free’ nail polish (Zoya) as an alternative to conventional polish is a step foward for the industry, removing 3 of the “most” toxic ingredients.

However, polishes that are simply ‘3-Free’ like the one’s used in Recess still contain dangerously toxic chemicals that pose a health risk to all, from expectant mothers to healthy adults. Only water-based formulas are truly non-toxic….!
