When the experts at Natural Home Magazine named their favorite eco-friendly cleaning product lines, nine companies made the list:

  1. Earth Friendly Products
  2. Ecover
  3. Howard Naturals
  4. Laundry Dropps
  5. Lucky Earth
  6. Mother Natural
  7. Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day
  8. Planet Inc.
  9. Seventh Generation

Each company’s products are free of toxic chemicals, so look for them at your local natural and organic food store.

You can also create your own economical, eco-friendly household cleaners, using natural ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, liquid detergent and tea tree oil. Here is a basic recipes for do-it-yourself scouring scrub.

    Notify dry cleaners ahead of time of any preexisting tears or damage. Otherwise, they might not clean your garment for fear you’ll think they caused the damage.

    If you’re comfortable with the DIY approach, go for it! Follow recipes carefully so you avoid mixing incompatible ingredients.

    If you’re not the DIY type, switch from mainstream to eco-friendly products.

    If you really take a closer look at these products (read the labels), you will see they are not 100% natural (chemical-free). This is called “green washing”. There is one I know, because I use it, that is totally non-toxic. So I can recommend. Check the web site: amazoniagreenproducts.com. It’s an ALLERGY CONTROL PRODUCT, for people with skin sensitivities, hypperallergenic or with immune system compromised.
