Recalled vegetables

We have two new recalls to announce. While the involved products are not organic, you may have purchased them.

Pats Exotic Vegetable Beverages

Pat's Exotic BeveragesBronx, NY-based Pats Exotic Beverages is recalling all packages of its Carrot Juice, Carrot Beet, Carrot Lime and Cucumber beverages because they were inadequately processed and may contain foodborne pathogens.

These beverages were sold at retail outlets in the New York City metro area. All packages and product codes are subject to the recall.

No illnesses have been reported to date, but the company is urging consumers who bought the beverages to discard them or return them to the place of purchase.

Sales have been suspended, as the foodborne pathogens can cause a variety of signs and symptoms: vomiting, abdominal cramps, nausea, diarrhea, fever, headaches, muscle pain, weakness or death.

Store-Brand Frozen Vegetables

Recalled vegetablesThe Pictsweet Co. of Bells, TN, is recalling certain store-brand frozen vegetable products because packages may contain glass fragments.

Products were distributed only to Kroger stores in the Southeast United States and to Walmart stores throughout the United States:

  1. Kroger 12-ounce Green Peas (UPC 11110 89736); Production Codes 1440BU, 1440BV, 1440BW and 1600BD
  2. Kroger 12-ounce Peas and Carrots (UPC 11110 89741); Production Codes1960BD and 1960BE
  3. Great Value 12-ounce Steamable Sweet Peas (UPC 78742 08369); Best-By dates of July 20, 2012, and July 21, 2012
  4. Great Value 12-ounce Steamable Mixed Vegetables (UPC 78742 08026); Best-By date of July 15, 2012

No injuries have been reported to date, but Pictsweet is advising the public that the affected products should not be consumed.
