When ABC’s hit series Dancing With the Stars returns on March 9, Ukraine-born professional Karina Smirnoff, 31, will partner with Apple Computer brainiac and philanthropist Steve Wozniak. (For an interesting read, check out his New York Times bestseller, iWoz: Computer Geek to Cult Icon.)
Smirnoff, a six-season veteran of the show, recently told Self magazine that her feet “cry out” at the end of a long night of dancing—especially in high heels.
So, how does she pamper her beleaguered feet?
Self editors learned her three top tricks, all of which fit into a natural and organic foot-care regimen:
- If you’re stepping out for a night on the town, or if you know you’ll be on your feet all day, practice prevention: “Lie with legs up against a wall for 15 minutes.”
- Buy roomy shoes (width), and add removable gel pads if your feet swell.
- After a long day or night, soak feet in ice water, and elevate them on a comfy pillow when you go to bed.
