As consumers got their first taste of the Environmental Working Group’s 2011 list of the most/least heavily sprayed fruits and vegetables, the Organic Trade Association has issued an advisory urging Americans to choose organic if they wish to avoid pesticide residues.

USDA Permits Planting of GM Sugar Beets

GM sugar beets approved for planting by the USDA

Despite a court order to conduct a thorough Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) of genetically modified (GM) sugar beets before deregulating the seeds, The USDA has decided to continue allowing the planting of Monsanto’s Roundup Ready sugar beets.
