Sushi is in trouble. Tuna is on pace to become an endangered species. Conservationists claim Bluefin tuna stocks in the eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean have dropped 60% between 1997 and 2007.
So environmental advocates have been asking the European Union to impose strict limits on fishing, but after intense negotiations the EU has abandoned a plan to put stricter fishing quotas on Bluefin tuna.

Tomorrow, March 28th at 8:30PM is Earth Hour. Sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund, the event encourages people worldwide to unplug their appliances and turn off the lights for just one hour, to give our planet a rest and raise awareness for global warming.
In this toenail-snipping video, singer Alanis Morissette asks you to join the big turn off. Now, I’m a fan of Alanis, she’s super hot, but she’s a very “earthy crunchy” celebrity, so critics of global warming will just consider Earth Hour more hippie blah-blah. We need more presidents, politicians and influential figures trumpeting the cause. No offense Alanis.
In 2008, 50 million people in countries all over the world, from New York and Los Angeles to Rome and Hong Kong and everywhere in between, took part in Earth Hour. So, don’t be a curmudgeon. Turn off the lights, fire up a candle and give the earth a freaking break!
