Global warming effects us all, from the very big to the teeny tiny. And now, European butterflies may soon be in trouble.

Researchers believe warming temperatures might interfere with the insects’ ability to migrate and thrive.

And, a change of just a few degrees could kill many of the butterflies that don’t migrate.

New research in Biorisk suggests climate change will force colorful insects to move north. But deforestation and encountering large bodies of water will make it difficult for them to traverse long distances.

And those that do make it may not be able to reproduce in sufficient numbers.
