
Global warming THREATENS animals, like polar bears and penguins, but now the Republic of Kiribati, a tropical nation composed of 32 atolls in the central Pacific Ocean, faces EXTINCTION due to rising sea-levels.
President Anote Tong said a projected half-meter rise in sea-level would submerge a SIGNIFICANT portion of inhabited coastline displacing citizens and causing salinization of nearby groundwater; the Harvard University Gazette reports.
