Wine and Cheese Tasting – Episode 23

Watch Laura Klein and Barrie Lynn “The Cheese Impresario” indulge in a wine and cheese tasting. They explore the fantastic taste of Uplands Cheese Company’s Pleasant Ridge Reserve Cheese paired with two wines from  Frey Vineyards, a 2008 certified Organic Chardonnay and a 2007 Biodynamic® Pinot Noir.

About the Cheese:
Uplands Cheese Company – Wisconsin
Cheesemaker – Mike Gingrich
Pleasant Ridge Reserve – Cow

Making only a single cheese – the much awarded artisanal Pleasant Ridge Reserve – Uplands Cheese has a farmstead operation using the milk from a single dairy herd, rotationally grazed on pasture grasses, herbs and wildflowers.  It is made only in the summer months, making the supply limited.  The cheese has a rare honor – winning Best of Show twice (2001 and 2005) from the American Cheese Society.  Additionally, it was U.S. Champion at the 2003 U.S. Championship Cheese contest, the only cheese ever to win both national awards.  It also has been recognized as one of the top 10 American-made farmstead artisanal cheeses.
