Summer is here, which means you'll be baring more skin than usual. So, how do you make sure your skin is radiant and glowing? This article presents some basic organic skin care solutions.

You Are What You Eat

Healthy skin begins with what you put in your body, and eating natural and organic food gives you a dermatological edge. You need to treat your skin from the inside out. Here are some organic skin care solutions for you:

  • Eat a healthful diet of organic food. This includes at least five servings of organic fruits and vegetables each day.
  • Skin needs to be properly hydrated, so drink plenty of water -- particularly when the weather is warm and you perspire more. Drink a minimum of eight glasses of water per day.
  • Minimize your consumption of caffeinated beverages.
  • Limit alcohol intake.

  • Get regular exercise.

Orange Cornmeal Exfoliating Body Scrub

Makes 1 application

1/3 cup organic cornmeal Organic milk or plain yogurt 2 drops organic orange essential oil

  1. Place the cornmeal in a small bowl.
  2. Add just enough milk or yogurt to form a paste.
  3. Add the orange essential oil and mix thoroughly.
  4. Apply scrub to your body (not the face) when you're in the shower to exfoliate skin. Massage into skin in circular motions, paying extra attention to dry areas like elbows, knees and feet.
  5. Rinse thoroughly.
