New Look, Same Over Simplification: USDA Unveils Redesigned Food Pyramid

The United States Department of Agriculture redesigned and re-released their food guideline pyramid earlier this year by introducing the interactive website www.mypyramid.gov. The new design has taken a change from the previous blocks piled within a triangle to triangles that extend downward from the apex of the pyramid but still fails to make any distinction between organic food and conventionally produced food. The new design is not much of a change over the previous effort and the main difference lies in the fact that it is accessible online with mildly interactive informational guidelines. Ultimately the new food pyramid may prove to be as benign to people looking for nutritional information as the model it was designed to replace.
