Attending a group class is a great way to try out a workout that you’ve never experienced before, as well as helps you stay motivated while keeping you accountable to continue showing up. Plus, you’ll learn proper form while meeting new friends. What’s not to like?

Using your own bodyweight has been a popular training method ever since…well, probably since the caveman era. With minimal space and equipment required, bodyweight training is a perfect workout to perform anytime, anywhere. Barre classes have been trendy for a number of years for a reason. The low-impact, high-intensity workouts that combine dance exercises with core strengthening, light weights, and Pilates movements, helps with flexibility, endurance, and strength — basically everything you could ever need in a sweat session. The low-impact exercises also means that it’s a perfect workout for seniors and those with injuries, as well as those who love to dance but have two left feet.
Seeing as yoga’s origins can be traced back to anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 years ago, it doesn’t look this workout is going anywhere anytime soon. Yoga’s benefits are numerous, ranging from the internal to the external. Whether you’re looking to still your mind and increase your self-awareness or improve your balance, strength and flexibility, then you’ll definitely want to grab a mat and start pedalling out your downward dog.
These tried and true exercises might have been around for a while, but there’s a solid reason for that: they work. They may not be the flashiest workouts out there, but they’re effective — which is what you ultimately want in a sweat session. So what are you waiting for?
