Popcorn chicken is a delicious party snack food that works wonders on satisfying the kids. However, it’s not exactly the healthiest treat out there. But, you don’t need the chicken or the deep fryer to enjoy the dish. In fact, an oven and head of cauliflower will do just fine. This spicy buffalo popcorn cauliflower recipe is infused with delicious spices and baked to a crisp, revealing a low-carb, low-fat alternative that’ll burst with flavor in your mouth.

This spicy buffalo popcorn cauliflower recipe is so delicious, you’ll wonder why chicken ever became the norm. What makes it so much better than popcorn chicken is that you can eat a lot more of it and fill up without weighing yourself down or walking away feeling like you’ve “cheated” with junk food. Spicy Buffalo Popcorn Cauliflower Recipe

Serves 4-6


  • 1 head cauliflower
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

Use clean hands to separate the florets from the cauliflower stalk and place the florets into a large bowl.

In a blender or food processor, combine the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Pour the wet mixture over the cauliflower florets and use clean hands to massage into each and every floret so that all sides are equally covered.

Transfer the cauliflower to a baking sheet and pop the baking sheet into the oven for 30-40 minutes. Every ten minutes or so, use a spatula to mix and flip the cauliflower florets so that they are adequately cooked on all sides.

Serves aside a vegan ranch dressing dip for the ultimate party appetizer!
