Lunchboxes for a Cause

Top Nashville singers, bands, songwriters, fine artists and athletes have teamed with theSecond Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee to raise money for the 28-year-old food distribution center, which feeds impoverished and low-income Americans in an effort to solve community hunger issues.

Singers like Dolly Parton, Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, Vince Gill and Sara Evans created exclusive, hand-designed lunchboxes that are being auctioned through a special eBay charity event, which concludes tomorrow evening.

At press time, lunchbox bids ranged from $9.99 to $610, and all auctions will close between 9 p.m. and 9:34 p.m. tomorrow (Eastern time). Show your organic spirit by bidding on a one-of-a-kind lunchbox to aid this worthwhile charity.

Second Harvest collects food that would otherwise be wasted and distributes it to soup kitchens, pantries and shelters. During the 2003–2004 fiscal year, the organization distributed more than 14.5 million pounds of food to hungry adults and children—an impressive achievement.
