Is This Photo of a Raw McRib Really That McShocking?

Frozen McRib Meat

The McRib is back – and what better way to celebrate than with a viral photo of what the cult classic looks like in the buff?

Reddit user DJDanaK posted the above photo of raw McRib meat, apparently sent to him by a buddy who works at McDonald’s. As of right now the photo hasn’t been authenticated, but even when it has, let’s face it: Proof the McRib looks like it’s created in a factory mold isn’t exactly earth-shattering.

Although the photo has received oodles of media attention, a majority of reactions are of the “meh” variety.

“Oh no,” said one commenter. “It’s raw, frozen meat that is perfectly edible. Run for your lives.”

To that I say, indubitably. I mean, how fabulous does frozen meat of any kind look? What exactly were those horrified by the pic expecting? That would be like someone judging me solely on what I look like in the morning (please don’t) before I’ve slathered on my makeup. I’d be a hypocrite if I did the same to what’s going to be my lunch tomorrow.

Maybe the number of horror stories about what’s “really” in fast food have left me desensitized – I’m not even bothered by the fact that the dude’s grubby paw is touching the McRib sans gloves. I’m not even bothered by the fact I’m not bothered!

I’ve seen worse photos – like the ones from my 21st birthday, for example.

How about you? Will you eat a McRib now that you’ve seen this photo?
