It's happened to me. I caught the bug. Several of my friends have, too. Once you're been infected, you're never the same. It usually strikes the first time you get a stamp in your passport. Life as you know it is never the same. It goes by many names but I call it, simply, the travel bug. International travel exposes you to new tastes, sounds, smells and sights that can make you feel more alive than ever before.
One of my favorite things about global travel is the food -- especially the food you get in small towns and villages made with local, fresh ingredients and typically prepared simply and in tradition form. But don't discount the cuisine in big cities. It can be just one more experience you didn't know you couldn't live without.
Unfortunately we can't all pick up and go when the mood strikes, but you can still eat like you're globetrotting. The following recipes from around the world can transport you to another place without ever leaving home -- even if it's just for a meal.
