How to Make Homemade DIY Linen Spray
We all know that one of life’s most enjoyable pleasures is climbing into bed with freshly-laundered sheets and bedding. But have you ever considered spritzing your bedding with a linen spray? Using linen spray can freshen sheets, help promote restful sleep and change your whole outlook on the day after a peaceful night’s sleep in fresh-smelling linens.
Don’t think that you have to purchase an expensive spray from one of those pricey bed and bath stores. You can make your own from wholesome, natural ingredients and without the addition of any toxic or artificial scents or chemicals. It’s also cheaper and better for the environment to make your own.
And before you start to get worried about another DIY project, making your own linen spray is one the easiest home products to make. There’s only 3 ingredients needed (distilled water, denatured alcohol and essential oil) and it’s not messy like making candles or potpourri.
In addition, once you’ve mastered the linen spray recipe you can switch things up by using different essential oils for different effects. Lavender promotes rest and sleep, bergamot is a fresh and invigorating scent, orange can help keep the cats off of your bed and cedar will remind you of relaxing in nature.
Tips
- You can use homemade linen spray as a refreshing room spray as well. In addition to keeping a bottle by the bed, use it in the bathroom and the kitchen.
- I prefer metal or glass bottles to store my spray inas they are more durable for reusing and less toxic than plastic bottles. You can sources bottles at Abundant Health, Aroma Tools and on Etsy.
- A few online sources for essential oils are Mountain Rose Herbs, Rocky Mountain Oils and Bulk Apothecary.
- Get creative and mix essential oils to create a signature line spray scent. Lavender and cedarwood would make for a woodsy pine scent while patchouli and orange combine for a musky fresh scent.
DIY Linen Spray Recipe
Making your own DIY spray is easy. Use a funnel to combine 3.5 ounces of distilled water, 1-2 tablespoons of vodka and 8-10 drops of your essential oil of choice in a glass or metal spray bottle. Shake prior to each use.
