The Importance of Organic Food is ‘Bigger’ than Ever, Literally

If your mom loves to talk about the benefits of organic food, tell her she’s got a lot of support popping up across the nation.
A big message about organic food
A new national Billboard campaign recently swept through 35 cities and 13 states–191 locations in all.
The billboards have a clear message: Organic food is great for you and your family. Moms Across America, a non-profit organization that educates the public about GMOs, related toxic chemicals, and solutions, is behind the campaign. The string of billboards were revealed on Earth Day and will stay up through Mother’s Day.
“The campaign is targeting the capitals of the Senate Ag and HELP Committed members home states, who make the decisions about whether to subsidize organic or label GMOs,” a Moms Across America press release reports.
“1 out of 2 children in America have a chronic illness. ‘Our families get better when they eat organic’ [the billboard’s message] is a health solution not only for consumers, but for our earth,” Zen Honeycutt, Moms Across America director, adds.
“Studies show organic improves the health of farmers, the quality of the soil, water, plants and reduces climate change as well. Our intention is to reach millions of American consumers and our policy makers.”
Giving consumers a choice
While Moms Across America’s members realize that all people don’t respond to GMOs the same way, moms in the group think all consumers should have access to organicfood. The group also wants healthy, safe, and honest labels on food.
“Access is a problem,” the release continues. “Many people are not aware that organic food has many health benefits… for instance, studies show organic food contains far less pesticides, is not genetically engineered (meaning foreign proteins) and has a higher nutritional content. Eating organic reduces toxic burden on the body, which unquestionably benefits health.”
Have you seen any of these billboards in your city? If you’ve seen one, what are your thoughts about the message?
