A gluten-free vegan donut recipe sounds too good to be true, right? Well, not anymore.

Just when you thought you had to nix your donut habit to achieve your target fitness and health goals, along comes the following donut recipe and all is good again. Based in gluten-free flours, sweetened with applesauce and maple syrup, and flavored with maple extract, these gluten-free vegan donuts will take your senses to another world. Enjoy!

I make this recipe every few days, because I find myself enjoying them in the morning for breakfast, alongside my coffee, in the afternoon as a snack, alongside herbal tea, and after dinner as a light dessert. Needless to say, they don’t take long to disappear.

Whatever you do, do not omit the maple extract from the recipe. It really makes a difference in taste. Meanwhile, the coconut cream glaze is optional but a welcome addition to the experience, offering even more decadence to a donut that only looks, tastes, and feels indulgent.

Gluten-Free Vegan Donut Recipe with Coconut Cream Glaze

Makes 15 to 20 mini donuts

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a small donut pan with coconut oil spray and set aside.

Mix all of the dry ingredients in a medium-sized bowl. Mix the wet ingredients and diced apple in a separate medium-sized bowl. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until well combined.

Equally fill each donut hole in the baking sheet with the donut mixture. Pop the baking sheet into the oven and cooked for ten to 12 minutes. Let cool slightly before adorning with the glaze.

For the glaze, add all the ingredients to a food processor and blend until smooth. Drizzle each donut with the glaze and start eating!
