Now that “fit is the new skinny”, everyone and their mother seems obsessed (and supposedly in love) with working out. Celebrities, admired for their toned bodies and clean diets, have long been exercise fiends and thus become motivation for the rest of us. We look to them for the fitness trends and follow their example, trying to love the treadmill as much as they purportedly do. But, shockingly, some of the slimmest and seemingly fittest celebrities despise working out. Some don’t even exercise at all! Here are 10 fit celebrities who hate exercise, if they do it at all.

10 Fit Celebrities Who Hate (or Don’t) Exercise

1. Emma Stone

In US Weekly, Emma Stone revealed her outlook on exercising. “I haven’t worked out for a month and I’m proud of it! I like to do things I actually enjoy, like going for a swim. I had a trainer during “Spider Man” and I discovered I have deep-seated rage when I’m holding heavy weights over my head. That’s not the kind of working out I want to do. I would much rather sleep at night than want to throw a weight across a room at someone. I’m usually a pretty peaceful person, but for some reason when I get in the gym something bubbles up in me…. I haven’t worked out for a month and I’m proud of it!”

2. Jennifer Lawrence

In a 2013 issue of InStyle, Jennifer Lawrence got real: “Nothing can motivate me to diet and exercise. During “Hunger Games”, when I was eating ungodly amounts, I used to tell myself, ‘Stop eating, people are going to see this. This movie is going to be around forever.’ But nope! I was like, I still want candy and I still want a hot dog!”

3. Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek has a way of activating her muscles without hitting the gym . In a 2015 issue of People, she said, “Some people have the discipline to exercise in the morning, and I didn’t develop that.” She continued, “I work with a woman in London who taught me how to hold my body in a way where the muscles are activated all day long. So even when you brush your teeth, you’re working the muscles. She taught me to tone them without clenching them. You relax them and focus on the parts that need to be used, but never with tension.”

4. Joan Rivers

The late Joan Rivers, who always seemed so fit for her age, once joked about her not exercising at all. She revealed, “I don’t exercise. If God had wanted me to bend over, he would have put diamonds on the floor.”

5. Kiera Knightley

Kiera Knightley may look the role of a gym rat, but she told S magazine in 2014, “I don’t think about nutrition. The very thought of a diet makes me want chips and ice cream. And I just hate going to the gym. I cannot stand it.”

6. Gwen Stefani

She may still value a good sweat session, but Gwen Stefani has also embraced the virtues of taking a break. In 2012, she said, “This past year, I kind of stopped working out. I think my body just needed a break. And so I did that and focused more on feeling good as opposed to beating myself up.”

7. Megan Fox

Things may have changed since 2009, but back when Megan Fox was the hottest and sexiest star in Hollywood, she didn’t have to exercise to look the part. “I don’t have a special diet, I just sort of exist and survive. I’m 23. I’m prepared for when I hit 28 and I’ve got to change my whole thing. But, for now, if I can get away with it, I’m going to do it.”

8. Sienna Miller

In 2010, Sienna Miller told OK! her struggle to get a fitness regimen started, ““I’m not a gym person. I used to be very sporty at school and I loved competitive sports, but it’s hard for me to go to a gym and just run. I get bored very easily, so I have to find things that are more interesting. I could do with being more toned.” Hopefully, she has found a way by now!

9. Rihanna

In 2011, Rihanna told Vogue, “I hate going to the gym and doing it the old-fashioned way. I hate anything that’s too straightforward, too routine, too familiar. I get bored really, really quickly.”

10. Reese Witherspoon

Paparazzi often catch her entering and leaving a gym, but just because she’s an avid exerciser doesn’t mean she enjoys it. Reese told US Weekly, “If I never had to see the inside of a gym again, I’d be a very happy person.”
