chocolate face mask

Sure, you can seek out an exotic spa that offers a chocolate skin treatment for some ridiculously insane price. But why do that when you can make it at home for a couple of bucks? At OA, we are increasingly excited about the idea of creating our beauty rituals from natural, organic foodstuffs with our own two hands; highly satisfying. And also, highly effective!

Plus, pure dark chocolate is gaining well-deserved recognition for its health benefits. In terms of skin, they can be potentially plenty. Cocoa products are among some of the most concentrated sources of flavinoids - rich antioxidants - that have the ability to destroy free radicals and inhibit lipid oxidization. We all know what that means; anti-aging allies. Chocolate, when spread on the skin, can promote that ever-illusive youthful glow, reduce fine lines, scars and stretch marks, and protect from environmental effects such as sun and pollution.

Give this rich, creamy and dare we say it - delicious - face mask a homemade try. And if a bit slips into your mouth... enjoy!

Ingredients

1/3 cup raw cacao powder or cocoa powder

1/4 cup of raw honey

2 tablespoons of mashed avocado

3 teaspoons of cornmeal (if you're looking for a great natural exfoliator)

Instructions

Simply blend all the above ingredients together until creamy. With clean hands, apply the mask to your face and any other part of your body that you so desire (hands and feet can greatly benefit). Gently massage your mask into your skin, leaving it on for 15 - 20 minutes, and then rinse it off with warm water.
