Plant-Based Meal Kit Leader Purple Carrot Partners with Forks Over Knives Media Company

As demand for healthy meal kits continues to rise, the leading plant-based meal kit company, Purple Carrot, has announced a partnership with the plant-based multimedia brand Forks Over Knives in a new subscription model.

“I saw the movie in 2014 and immediately felt compelled to raise awareness around the tremendous health benefits of plant-based eating,” Andy Levitt, Purple Carrot’s Founder and CEO, said in a statement. “I left my longtime career in pharmaceuticals behind and shifted focus to the concept of food-as-medicine, launching Purple Carrot just a few months later.”

The Forks Over Knives approved recipes will be delivered in the traditional Purple Carrot model of ordering the week before delivery, with the option to pause meals as needed. The meal plan comes with recipe cards and measured ingredients, and can be prepared in under 40 minutes.

“At Forks Over Knives, our goal is to provide the motivation, guidance, and a support system to empower people to live healthier and more vibrant lives,” said Forks Over Knives’ Founder and President Brian Wendel.

“Purple Carrot shares a similar philosophy and desire to make the food-as-medicine, plant-based lifestyle more convenient and accessible for busy people. Joining forces with the leading plant-based meal-kit delivery service is a natural fit, since it provides an easy way for even more people to experience the joy and positive benefits of plant-based eating.”

“Forks Over Knives” is a critically acclaimed documentary that debuted in 2011. Its premise was raising awareness of the benefits of eating a plant-based diet focused on whole food ingredients. Since its premiere, Forks Over Knives has garnered more than one million Facebook fans, published four best-selling books, and built a website following of more than 900,000 unique monthly visitors.

Purple Carrot recently took its meal kits to the shelves in select Whole Foods locations, but the new partnership represents the growing interest in home-cooked meals prepared with fresh, healthy ingredients.

“This partnership represents a great line extension for the brand,” said Levitt, “and we’re excited to make plant-based eating even more accessible for the Forks Over Knives community and for anyone who has been moved by the film.”
