Spring has sprung! Just this last weekend, my neighborhood farmers market was bustling with people, and the local seed company started to place their veggie starts along the sidewalk. Even the air smelled fresh.
Now, we realize that there are some places around the world and across the United States that have yet to be graced with any glorious spring weather. To help you cope and bide the time until spring saunters to your front door, we’ve compiled a list of spring quotes (and a spring tradition or two/new “starts" to embrace, to accompany them) to lighten your mood.
1. "Come, gentle Spring! Ethereal Mildness! Come." - James Thomson via Garden Digest
New “start” to embrace: Accepting internal “mildness” via meditation.
Meditation is a habit you won’t mind creating. It allows your brain to be still and helps your internal temperature stay mild.
2. "The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing." - Walt Disney via Inc.
Spring tradition to embrace: Spring cleaning.
I don’t know about you, but whenever I start thinking about cleaning my apartment for spring, I start to procrastinate by talking about how hard it will be. Well, next time I do this, I’m going to tell my brain to put a sock in it and get to work. If you act quickly, you’ll accomplish your task (be it a clean home, an organized desk) quickly.
3. "It's a helluva start, being able to recognize what makes you happy." - Lucille Ball via Inc.
New “start” to embrace: Take time every week to think about what makes you happy. And then, incorporate that happiness in your life. After all, spring is the season for re-birth and awakening.
4. "No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow." - Proverb from Guinea via Garden Digest
Spring tradition to embrace: Start a spring garden. It will give you something to look forward to and plan while you’re staring out the window watching the last bits of snow melt.
