Go Green Expo Comes to L.A. This Weekend

Go Green Expo makes its third appearance in Los Angeles this weekend at the LA Convention Center with hundreds of vendors and dozens of speakers, films and performances for the whole family.

Launched after viewing the film “An Inconvenient Truth”, Bradford Rand and his team at Expo International are seasoned event producers coordinating more than 800 trade shows and job fairs since 1993. Says Rand, “I felt it was my mission to create a tradeshow showcasing all things that are eco-frienldy to families and businesses.”

Guests at Go Green Expo can expect a number of exciting eco-friendly products , hybrid cars including the new Mitsubishi electric car that Rand is quite excited about. Plus, there will be a variety of home and building products, baby and pet care items, and lots of great organic food. Kids can enjoy activities including yoga classes, the Eco Hero Kids performance and a number of events in the Kid’s Zone area. Speakers include Ed Begley Jr., Mariel Hemingway and Captain Paul Watson, who Rand calls “the bravest man in the world,” for his work to stop Japanese whale hunting.

According to Go Green’s Web site, the event itself is environmentally friendly utilizing a zero carbon footprint approach to event production including biodegradable trash bags, eco-friendly printing, table coverings, recycled signs, compostable sponsor banners, paperless ticketing and more.

The event is designed to help inspire ways to integrate easy green changes at home. Rand says that there are “a number of simple things we can do”, such as shut of the lights when we leave a room, unplug appliances not used, turn off the water when brushing & shaving, use eco-friendly cleaners so as not to harm the air and environment, don’t over shop for groceries, install solar panels when applicable, and “elect public officials that are eco-minded!”

Tickets for Go Green Expo are $15 and event hours are Saturday, April 16, 2011 10am – 6pm and Sunday, April 17, 2011 10am – 5pm.
