In Mexico, the Cinco de Mayo holiday commemorates the Mexican Army’s victory over French forces back in 1862 at the Battle of Puebla. Many of us in the United States celebrate the holiday by gathering with family and friends, surrounding ourselves with colorful decorations, fabulous food and delightful beverages. Pair the fun with the warmer weather and you’re in for a great celebration. These OA recipes are delightful, Mexican-inspired food and drinks, perfect for your Cinco de Mayo party.

A Cinco de Mayo gathering wouldn’t be complete without homemade salsa and chips. So easy to make and definitely a crowd pleaser, you don’t have to limit salsa to chips only. Top baked potatoes with it or partner it up with grilled fish, burgers or veggies.
This OA recipe couldn’t be any easier to put together and is just a bit different from the standard margarita. Who doesn’t love fresh fruit? Buy the peaches ahead of time, slice them into chunks, then freeze them for later. Easy and delicious.

1 cup frozen peaches
1 cup ice
2.5 ounces tequila
1 ounce peach schnapps
2 ounce sweet & sour mix
1 teaspoon sugar
Pour into 2/3 margarita glasses and garnish each with a fresh strawberry.
