5 DIY Beauty Product Recipes to Get Your Skin Ready for Winter

Here are 5 things you’ve most likely got around your house that can be transformed into gloriously luxe DIY beauty products. All of these concoctions will ensure your skin is winter ready.
And the time is ripe for these concoctions, because winter is coming quicker than you think. I know this truth all too well because I’ve already had to deal with one round of chapped lips this autumn. Luckily, I had a few skin-friendly kitchen staples around and nipped that unwelcome dryness in the bud. I’m betting that you have a few of these items in your kitchen, too. So, without further ado, get yourself mixing up these DIY beauty products.
A homemade product for dry hands
1. Smooth and silky hand cream
Before you hit the frigid town, make sure you cover (then wash) your hands with this concoction:
Plain oats
Olive oil
Strawberries
Coconut oil
Coarse brown sugar
Cook a few scoops of oatmeal with water. A soupy consistency is best. Mash three or four large berries with a fork. Stir berries and the oatmeal together. Add three spoonfuls of olive oil to the mixture and stir again. Place hands into the mixture. Coat all the rough spots. Soak your hands for three minutes. Massage you hands in the mixture for two minutes, rinse with warm water and pat dry.

2. Banana Peach Face Mask
This basically looks like a hearty breakfast to me, but in fact, it’s great for your winter-worn face, too! The bananas smooth the face and the honey can help your skin retain moisture. The almonds exfoliate and the peaches pack a nice punch of vitamins A and C.
All you need:
2 medium ripe bananas
2 tablespoons of honey
1 fairly ripe peach
2 rounded tablespoons of ground almonds
Finely ground oatmeal
Blend the bananas, honey, and peach together. Mix in ground almonds, and then the oatmeal. Use enough oatmeal to make a paste. Apply to your dry, clean face. Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse the mask off with warm water.
3. Almond Toner
This is a great option for when you are looking for a little extra glow on a dull, winter day. It will smooth and moisturize.
This recipe only calls for two ingredients:
1 teaspoon flaked or ground almonds
1 teaspoon glycerin (you can find pure vegetable glycerin at health food stores or online)
Add about a mug full of boiling water to the ground almonds and filter through a fine sieve. Add glycerin. Use within three days and keep it in the fridge.
For your lovely lips
4. Coconut and sugar scrub
Help curb dry, flaked lips with a combination of coconut oil and a scoop of sugar. The sugar will exfoliate your lips and help keep the moisture of the coconut oil in your lips, too.

5. DIY Body Oil
Body oils are a great choice for keeping your skin healthy and soft come winter. OA has a great recipe:
2 fl. oz. jojoba oil
2 fl. oz. almond oil
2 tablespoons of vitamin E oil
10 drops sweet orange oil
6 drops lavender essential oil
4 drops lemongrass essential oil
All you have to do is put the ingredients in a recycled glass, shake, and apply!
