Calm Yourself: 5 Ways to Keep Frizzy Hair in Check

We all want smooth hair all year long. But extreme summer weather brings hair-frizzing heat and humidity. Add to that hours at the pool, a few weekends at the lake and a few too many hours in the sun, and your hair can turn completely unmanageable.
Bring your hair back to its de-frizzed self by using one of the following hair-frizz remedying, homemade beauty solutions. Each one is natural and simple to make.
1. Apple cider vinegar hair rinse
Apple cider has a high level of acidity. The acid in the vinegar will help calm your hair, and will make your mane extra shiny, too.
What you’ve got to do: After washing, shampooing and rinsing your hair, cover your hair with the vinegar. Let the vinegar sit for 30 seconds and rinse it out with cool water. Condition normally.
2. Avocado and olive oil hair mask
Avocado and olive oil are great hair hydrators, and avocado’s fatty acids can tame frizzy hair, too.
What you’ve got to do: Mash the avocado and add a bit of olive oil. Whip the two ingredients together. After shampooing your hair, slather the mask on your hair and let it sit for 30 minutes. After it has soaked in, rinse the mask off. To get rid of the mask’s scent, condition your hair as you normally would.
3. Raw egg and olive oil hair treatment
The egg’s yolk has a ton of fats and proteins, which are very moisturizing, and the egg whites’ contain enzymes that kill bacteria and remove excess oils. Olive oil keeps all the “wanted” moisture in your hair.
What you’ve got to do: Whisk a raw egg and mix in a spoonful of olive oil. Let this treatment sit on your hair for about 30 minutes before shampooing and conditioning your locks.
4. Coconut oil treatment
OA’s very own Jill Ettinger completed a stellar post on why and how coconut oil is great for your hair. Give it a read here.
Grab a 1/2 cup of honey, a 1/2 cup yogurt and 1 tablespoon of almond oil from your kitchen. Combine all the ingredients together. Once everything is evenly combined, massage into your hair from its roots to its ends. Let the mixture sit for 20 minutes then wash hair normally.
