Celeb-Approved Wellness Retreats That Are Actually (Kind of) Affordable

Feeling a little bloated and have a need to get away from it all post-holiday season? Then you might want to consider pulling a Rebel Wilson or Gwyneth Paltrow and jetting off somewhere exotic to recharge your batteries.

While we might simply join a new yoga class to reset our mind and bods, celebs like to go that extra mile. In fact, they like to travel a few hundred miles or more to get some much-needed R&R at various wellness retreats around the world.

Though these retreats aren’t exactly cheap, they also don’t require serious Oprah money either. If you’re looking to treat yourself to a wellness vacation this year, you might want to consider these celeb-approved global getaways.

Ananda in the Himalayas, India

Situated at the foot of the Himalayas in India, the Ananda Hotel is mere miles from the birthplace of yoga. A favorite getaway spot of Heidi Klum and Uma Thurman, the hotel offers various wellness programs, including Detox, Yogic Detox, and Ayurvedic Rejuvenation. The five-day Yoga Retreat package, which includes a deluxe room, personal yoga sessions, meals, and a Rose Quartz Facial, among other benefits, starts at $690 US per night.

The Ranch in Malibu

If you’re looking to go off the grid for your detox, then you should do what Rebel Wilson and Connie Britton did, and check out The Ranch in Malibu, California. Enjoy four different hour hikes each morning, fitness classes, daily massages, and a 1,400 calorie-a-day organic plant-based diet — all without your cell phone. A four-day program, which includes private accommodation, will cost you $3,900.

The Chiva Som, Thailand

Said to be popular among A-listers, including Kate Moss and Elle MacPherson, the Chiva Som resort offers holistic detox for your mind and body using traditional Thai techniques. Upon arrival guests are treated to a private health and wellness consultation with a holistic health expert to best address their personal needs. Each retreat includes accommodation, three wellness meals, daily fitness activities, unlimited use of aqua therapy, and one daily treatment, including Thai Massage and body polish. A double ocean-view room for three nights will run you $2,500.

The Ashram, Calabasas

Pretty much every A-lister, from Oprah to Gwyneth, has visited the Ashram. Located in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, guests enjoy all sorts of vigorous activities, including hiking, Pilates, yoga, and strength training, while dining on 1000-calories-per-day organic vegetarian meals. A week-long all-inclusive retreat costs $5,500, which also includes lodging and daily massages.

Wanderlust Festivals

If you’re looking for something less intense, you might want to attend a Wanderlust Festival, which is what Karlie Kloss did. The festivals are basically huge parties celebrating mindfulness, featuring yoga classes, meditation, sunset hikes, and bike excursions, and take place at some of the world’s most beautiful mountain resorts. This year the festival will hit numerous cities, including Oahu, Squaw Valley, and Whistler. Prices range from $100 for a day and $500 for a four-day all-access pass.
