Chocolate Locks: Cocoa-Scented Dry Shampoo for Brunettes

Brunette hair just got a little more luscious. If you’re blessed with rich chocolate locks, try this cocoa-powder dry shampoo recipe to make your hair look and smell fantastic on in-between days.

Dry shampoo is perfect for oilier hair. Whether you don’t have time to shower or just *ahem* don’t want to, this mix of cornstarch and cocoa will lighten up your roots and loosen your texture in two minutes flat. Just shake it into the roots, massage it a bit, brush out any excess and enjoy.

This recipe is for brunettes only! Sorry blondes, but the cocoa can make your hair look dull and muddy. If you have lighter hair that still gets oily at the roots, try this cornstarch and oat dry shampoo.

Ingredients

  • 1 part organic cornstarch
  • 1 part fair trade cocoa powder

Method

Mix the cornstarch and cocoa powder in a spice container or shaker.

Sprinkle a tablespoon or two over your roots.

Massage or scrunch the mixture into your hair at the roots — don’t worry about the ends unless they’re oily too.

Comb or brush your hair well to remove any excess.

Thanks to Andrea at Love and Trash for the recipe!
