Keep Zits at Bay Come Sweaty Season
Whether hot yoga, hot workouts or hot weather, for a lot of us, sweaty skin means one thing: Breakouts. And not just those average zits. These ones come in unsightly places like the back and shoulders and even the chest, as well as along your hairline or where your sunglasses lay on your nose. Not exactly convenient as we shed our winter layers and throw our hair back to celebrate this lovely time of year.
Here are some crucial tips to make sure summer breakouts are a thing of the past. With a little effort and foresight, you can prevent sweat-induced acne and keep that complexion glowing – promise.
Wash Your Face!
If you know you are about to be in a sweaty situation – like a warm summer walk, hike or some vigorous exercise – cleanse your face before the sweat starts dripping. That way all the dirt, oil and debris doesn’t end up clogging your pores. In fact, it’s far more important to wash before than after a workout… as far as your complexion is concerned. As to your general hygiene…
Exfoliate
Now, this you can do post sweat session. Use a gentle exfoliating cleanser all over your body and face to banish any bacteria or dead skin that might be clinging to your perspiring self (healthy glow anyone?).
Block Sun Wisely
Sunblock can clog pores, especially the chemical-laden stuff. Instead opt for one our favorite natural sunscreens that has zinc in its ingredient list. The zinc will actually help fight acne, too!
Hydrate
Both inside and out, staying hydrated flushes those impurities out. Make sure you’re drinking your fair share of water (maybe some coconut water!) and also replenishing the natural oils on your skin with aloe vera or a light moisturizer.
