7 Medicinal Herbs and Spices for Tasty Healing

1. Sage

Sage tea can tame upset stomachs and sore throats. Also, preliminary research on the herb suggests that it may help improve some early Alzheimer’s symptoms. Add this spice to meals that include squash and walnuts, in addition to rosemary and thyme.

2. Turmeric

This brightly colored spice contains curcumin, an active compound that supports many of your body's systems. Turmeric has anti-bacterial, anti-vital and anti-inflammatory capabilities. It also naturally detoxes the liver and contains some cancer-fighting properties.

3. Thyme

Have a nasty cough you just can’t shake? Use thyme in your meals. This herb can soothe the respiratory system, and helps people who are suffering from asthma, cold coughs and bronchitis.

4. Thai basil

This may be my favorite herb. Thai basil has a rich, earthy flavor and tastes amazing in pesto. This herb is a known antibacterial, and its leaves contain vitamin A and antioxidants.

5. Rosemary

This woody herb has so many great health benefits. Rosemary is a known antifungal, antiseptic, anti-allergenic, and anti-inflammatory seasoning. It also aids with cleansing the liver.

The curcumin in cumin can inhibit the enzymes that allow cancer cells invade healthy tissue. It also can help keep tumors from developing new blood vessels.

7. Saffron

This beautiful spice can help relieve PMS symptoms and depression. Saffron is great in dishes that contain shellfish, rice, tomatoes, garlic, and onion.
