Stave off Winter Sickness with a Lemon Ginger Tea Elixir

This lemon ginger tea recipe is an effective and yummy way to start off any winter morning.

In the chilly depths of the winter season, I’ve become increasingly proactive about preventing the common cold. Besides wearing extra layers and being sure to eat a diet rich in fresh vegetables and fruits, I’ve added a medicinal and quite delicious healing and soothing elixir to my morning regimen that I know is serving my body just right.

Lemon juice, especially when paired with warm water, is a powerful morning elixir that may help to kill off viruses and bacteria. It is also highly alkaline, and after ingested it helps to restore the body’s overall pH balance. Honey also bears antiviral, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and its viscosity makes it quite soothing to the throat.

Ginger takes the cake when it comes to fighting inflammation, which is the root cause of major degenerative diseases. The root heals an upset stomach and breaks down mucous. Meanwhile, early grey tea improves immunity and offers a dose of caffeine to uplift your spirits in the morning.

Drink this lemon ginger tea elixir directly in the morning on an empty stomach and make sure that it is hot, but not scalding. Enjoy!
