Actor Mark Wahlberg is a fitness machine. Not only does he look the part of his action hero roles (bulging biceps and all) but he also takes his exercise regime very seriously, which was evidenced by his intense 4 a.m. workout routine that he shared on Instagram last September. So it makes sense that one of the biggest -- and fittest -- stars in Hollywood would join forces with one of the biggest fitness franchises in the world.
In a press statement released today, it was announced that an investment group led by "Transformers" star and FOD Capital is buying a minority stake in F45 Training.
“This is a monumental transaction for F45 Training. When we started the company, we knew we had something special and had bold plans to create a global fitness movement,” said CEO Rob Deutsch. “Mr. Wahlberg’s genuine passion for fitness, proven business acumen and shared vision for F45 Training made this an ideal fit for the company, and we are proud to welcome him into the F45 family.”
F45, which stands for "Functional" fitness for 45 minutes, originated in Australia in 2012 and has since opened more than 1,500 studios in 40 countries with projections to open up ten times that amount in North America alone.
"We’re selling roughly 50 franchises a month and we’re confident it’ll ramp up to 70 to 80 a month by the end of 2019 to well over 2,000,” Deutsch told Bloomberg.
So what makes this workout so hot? Because it promises to make you sweat. The workout combines three workouts -- high intensity interval training (HIIT), circuit training, and functional training -- into one 45-minute sweat session that will trim and tone your body from head to toe.
According to its website, the company has already developed 27 different 45 minute workouts from a database of over 3,000 different exercises, promising members that they will never get the same workout twice.
“Together with my investors, we are excited to be working with F45 Training. The founders of F45 Training have done an incredible job building a global brand, and with this partnership, we hope to continue disrupting the fitness industry,” Wahlberg said. "The strength of F45 is that people of all fitness levels will find motivation and support in an F45studio. We look forward to inspiring people all over the world to pursue their health and fitness goals by introducing them to F45.”
If it 'transforms' our bodies to something resembling Wahlberg's sculpted body, then we're a fan.
