Our very own spiced sesame green beans are the perfect way to start. These Asian flavored beans are spicy and saucy, with protein from peanut butter and a healthy dose of tahini. They’re a great side dish to other Asian influenced dishes, but they’re also delicious on their own, with a side of cooked brown rice.
For something a little different, consider these creamy yam sesame burgers. This veggie burger uses sweet potato for distinctive texture. Chock full of veggies like zucchini and celery, flavored with berbere spice, and rolled in sesame seeds, these burgers are a flavorful and exciting option for vegetarians at any of this season’s barbecues.
Sesame is also versatile in sweet dishes, like our very own sweet sesame balls. Sweet lotus paste, another Asian ingredient, is combined with sesame seeds, sugar and rice flour, for a sweet, soft confection.
Sesame seeds can also be used in a brittle, made with honey and flavored with nutmeg and vanilla. This candy is very moreish… you’ll be happy you made a whole batch, because soon it will all have disappeared!
