Despite all the TLC we can give it, sometimes hair just doesn’t want to behave. The section of our hair that’s the most disagreeable? The ends. Split and frayed ends are just a reality – especially when the dry winter weather causes our hair to be less manageable than normal. But don't reach for the chemical moisturizers just yet! If you're desperate to learn how to deal with split ends naturally, we've got three DIY recipes that can help.
How To Get Rid Of Split Ends, Naturally
1. Egg whites, olive oil and avacado
The olive oil in this recipe leaves hair moisturized and shiny, and the avocado is packed with nutrients and vitamins that help keep hair healthy.
1 avocado, pitted and skinned
2 tablespoons egg whites
3 tablespoons olive oil
Mash up the avocado before mixing in egg whites and olive oil. Whip the mixture until it has a creamy consistency, similar to conditioner. Apply the mixture to your hair and cover with a shower cap. Let the mixture sit on your hair for 45 minutes to an hour. Rinse thoroughly and wash hair with a mild, natural shampoo.
2. Papaya and yogurt
1 papaya, de-seeded, skinned
½ cup plain yogurt
Cut the papaya in half. Scoop out its seeds. Use a knife to remove the fruit’s skin. Mash the papaya with a fork and mix in yogurt. Whip the mixture until it’s smooth. Apply the mixture like it’s a conditioner. Put on a shower cap and let the concoction sit for 45 minutes to an hour. Rinse thoroughly.
