Poutalicious Natural Cinnamon-Beetroot Lip Plumper Recipe

Poutalicious Cinnamon-Beetroot Lip Plumper Recipe

I’m always in the market for a pout that is full, glossy, and smooth, only I’m not willing to go the Kylie Jenner route and get lip filler injections or do anything remotely invasive to achieve such ends. For me, the goal is lips that look healthy and naturally full. Store-bought lip plumper sticks and glosses are often just an additional product to the lines of cosmetics brands that already use harsh, toxic ingredients. To avoid the needle and the synthetic ingredients, I’ve turned to the following DIY lip plumper recipe to get my lips looking luscious and kissable. The following lip plumper recipe also includes a variation for a reddish tint.

The plumping action of this lip plumper recipe is achieved with cinnamon oil. Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory properties when ingested, but when applied to the skin, it can cause the area to swell lightly. This property is what makes cinnamon the key ingredient. Vanilla extract adds a delicious scent while beetroot powder offers an optional, all-natural reddish tint.

Lip Plumper Recipe (optional: red tint)

Makes about 1/3 cup

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon beeswax
  • 5 teaspoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon oil
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon beetroot powder
  • Lip balm container(s)

Directions

In a double boiler, mix together the beeswax and olive oil. Once melted and smooth, add in the cinnamon and vanilla extract. Stir until evenly combined. At this point, you can stir in the beetroot powder if you want your lip plumper to have a sleek reddish tint. If not, omit the beetroot powder.

Pour the mixture into a lip balm container and let cool at room temperature. Apply the balm with your finger as you would any other lip balm, being careful to stay within the confines of your lips to avoid irritation on the skin from the cinnamon.
