Roseanne started out as a housewife, went on to become a standup comic, got her own a sitcom, starred in movies, sang arguably the worst rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner ever, became Roseanne Arnold, then back to Roseanne Barr, hosted her own talk show, and now — she grows nuts in Hawaii.
It’s an unlikely next step for the former loudmouth comedian, but Roseanne’s new life with her family on a 5,000 tree macadamia nut farm will be filmed for a 16 episode reality TV show on Lifetime.
“I’m a farmer now, and it’s fantastic,” Roseanne said on Oprah this week,” My goal is to be totally self-sufficient and grow everything that I eat. There’s something about earning your dinner that’s cool.”
Roseanne’s new show will be a “docu-series” about her life down on the farm, which in addition to nut trees is home to bee hives, goats, and a black sheep she aptly named Roseanne. Roseanne’s son, Jake, and her longtime boyfriend, Johnny Argent, will also appear on the show.
When talking about her new show, Roseanne told Oprah for years people have been calling her nuts, so her life on the farm is a good fit.
While Roseanne tends to her nuts, other celebrities have their own food causes. Woody Harrelson wants everyone to eat less tuna and Stephen Colbert is encouraging people to try “street veal” and “sink lobster.”
