Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have always veered towards the hippie lifestyle. They basically put ‘boho chic’ fashion on the map, and Mary-Kate is known to “constantly” sage her surroundings.

Now, not surprisingly, they’re embracing the crystal culture that has taken over Hollywood.

Case in point? At their fall 2018 runway show for The Row earlier this month, the dynamic duo included two mini crystals in their goody bags for guests. The crystals, one clear quartz and one black tourmaline, each came with a description as well as instructions on how to best cleanse them.

Just because you weren’t able to grab a seat at the Olsen twins’ fashion show (don’t worry, we didn’t either) doesn’t mean you can’t get into the “woo woo” vibes that they’re emanating. Here’s everything you need to know about Mary-Kate and Ashley’s latest obsession.

What Do These Crystals Do?

By now we know that some believe crystals have both powerful energetic and beauty benefits, with each crystal containing different healing properties for specific ailments and issues.

The Olsen twins included clear quartz, which they said was meant to be used for “universal energy” as well as for balancing and revitalizing the “physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual planes.”

Traditionally, the clear quartz is known as the “master healer” and will amplify your energy and thought, as well as help to power up other crystals. Most diehard crystal enthusiasts recommend that if you’re going to have one crystal, the clear quartz is it.

The black tourmaline in the Olsen’s goody bags was suggested to be used for “protection.” “This crystal is a protective stone which repels and blocks negative energies,” read its accompanying notecard. “It also works in reducing fear and increasing focus.”

While black tourmaline is known to transform heavy energy into a lighter vibration while protecting against darker energy, it’s also known as a grounding crystal and is said to help boost the immune system and promote detoxification.

How to Clean Your Crystals

Cleansing crystals regularly is normal practice for crystal owners as its believed they absorb negative energy from other people in addition to your surrounding environment To create positive energy within your crystals, you need to cleanse them frequently, which is why the Olsens included cleaning instructions for their crystals.

The twins recommended the traditional route of covering and soaking the crystals in salt water for 24 hours. This is the safest route for most crystals, but there are other ways to best “charge” your crystals. For example, you can cleanse black tourmaline by setting it in the sun for at least an hour.

Also smudging crystals is another alternative. Using a white sage smudging stick you can hold the stones close to the stream of the smoke, or simply hold your smudge stick near to where they are sitting so the air around them is full of the sage essence. Sage, which Mary-Kate is apparently familiar with, is normally used for healing, with its smoke used to bless, heal, and protect the person, environment, or object being saged.

So, if you’re down for some #goodvibes, you can pick up your own clear quartz and black tourmaline and some sage, and pretend you were at the Olsen’s fashion show. Who knows? Soon you might have a ‘Full House’ of the stuff.
