If the rumours are true, actress Meghan Markle might soon be on her way to a royal title. The “Suits” star, who is currently dating Britain’s Prince Harry, has had her life transform from mid-level celebrity to full-blown global superstar in just over a year.

Throughout all the jet-setting (she’s based in Toronto and flies frequently to London) and public appearances, she still remains the picture of beauty with an enviable figure and glow (her recent stunning Vanity Fair cover is solid proof of that).

Surprisingly, Markle’s health and fitness tips, which she recently shared with Women’s Health, are simple and easy to do — even for us mere mortals who don’t have a crown in our future. Here’s how Markle stays sane, fit, and gorgeous despite all eyes (especially the Queen’s) on her.

1. She Finds Motivation in Her Health

“My health, my state of mind, the feeling you have after a workout; all of this things drive me to step onto my mat or go to the gym,” she revealed to the magazine. “Sometimes the idea of working out sounds absolutely dreadful, but I always remind myself of how good it will feel afterward. Euphoric, almost!”

When it comes to finding your motivation to hit the gym, sometimes all it takes is a shift in your perspective. It is almost impossible to stay committed to anything without figuring out why you’re doing it. Like Markle, find out your “why” by determining what fitness and health means to you, and how it will make you feel.

2. She Makes Time to Meditate

Markle values giving herself the time to get out of her own head. For her, that means going for a run, which she calls her “moving meditation.” Meditation, whether you do it on the pavement or a pillow, has been proven to manage stress, increase self-awareness, and reduce negative emotions, including anxiety and depression.

3. She Hits the Gym With Friends

“I’m eager to come to the UK to do a workout with Russell [Bateman], the founder of SBC. My friend Millie Macintosh raves about his workouts, so I’ll call her up to do a class together next time I’m back in London.” The benefits of having a workout buddy are numerous, including helping with accountability and motivation, while also making working out fun (yes, it’s possible).

4. She Loves Yoga

Yoga probably comes a lot more naturally to the actress, thanks to growing up with a yogi mother. “My mom was a yoga instructor so that practice is in my blood,” she says. “I love an intense vinyasa class – and even better if its blasting hip-hop and done in a dark room with candlelight. The best!”

Vinyasa yoga is an intense form of exercise that works both the body and the mind. The practice branches out from hatha yoga, with the postures flowing with the breath, and when done at a faster pace, it becomes power yoga. Benefits include improved strength, flexibility and stress relief.

5. She’s All About Self-Care

Self-care is not just a popular Instagram hashtag; it’s a legitimate way to help nourish our mind, body and soul, which Markle seems to appreciate.

“I give myself the luxury of downtime. We are all so incredibly busy and juggling so many things but I always take an hour to just decompress, watch mindless TV, snuggle with my dogs and enjoy a glass of wine. That’s all part of the investment. It’s a balance.”

Whether it’s taking a moment with a cup of tea and a good book, or taking time with your fur (or human) baby, self-care helps us stay emotionally and physically healthy in order to avoid burnout. It is only when we are able to first help ourselves when we are able to help those around us.

Ultimately, when it comes to living like an almost-royal, you need nothing too fancy. A focus on self-care and some mean mojo can help you live your best life — with or without a prince.
