" . . . The quality of the fruits and vegetables available at grocery stores is terrible. Most are laden with toxic substances, such as sulfates on grapes, pesticides . . . many times fruits and vegetables are imported from foreign countries that use toxic pesticides that are illegal in the United States."

Best Organic Pumpkin Puree

January 25th, 2009 - Barbara Feiner

When the food testers at Real Simple magazine evaluated different brands of pumpkin puree (organic and nonorganic), the best in show was Farmer’s Market Organic Pumpkin.

Testers enjoyed its thickness, creaminess and rich amber color. Attribute the rave reviews to the product’s lone ingredient: 100% certified organic pumpkin.

Sold in 15-oz. cans, the unsweetened puree can be used to make pumpkin soup, muffins, bread, pie, cookies and casseroles. It’s available year-round, and there’s no need to carve a fresh pumpkin—a chore I never relish.

During the canning process, Farmer’s Market ensures the puree maintains all nutrients: beta-carotene, fiber, antioxidants, vitamin C, niacin, vitamin E, calcium and iron.

You can find the puree at your local natural and organic food store or order it online by clicking here.
