At 53, Elizabeth Hurley proved she’s ageless by sharing a recent Instagram pic of herself in a bikini. The Estée Lauder spokesmodel looks as glam and fit as she did back in the ‘90s.
So just how does she do it? By "making more time for exercise, eating nutritious foods, and taking the time to do relaxing activities,” she recently shared with Women’s Health.
Seems simple enough. Here’s how you can take a page from Hurley’s health book to look and feel your best, no matter what your age might be.
She Drinks Warm Water in the Morning
Hurley drinks two mugs of warm water as soon as she wakes up.
While it might seem basic compared to, say, a turmeric latte, the benefits of drinking warm water are numerous. According to Medical News Today, consuming warm water helps food break down faster than drinking cold or warm water while also supporting bowel movements. Further research found that switching from drinking cold water to hot water could increase weight loss, and by increasing water temperature to 98.6 degrees could boost your metabolism for 30 minutes post consumption.
She Eats a Well-Balanced Breakfast
Hurley usually enjoys a bowl of Greek yogurt, a banana, and a little bit of honey for breakfast, which is a nutritious combination of protein and carbohydrates. The Greek yogurt also serves as a great source of probiotics, which helps balance the friendly bacteria in your digestive system, while the banana gives you that much-needed energy boost in the morning, in addition to vitamin C and potassium. Factor in the antioxidant benefits of honey, and Hurley is enjoying one delicious and healthy breakfast.
She Loves Her Veggies and Protein
For dinner, Hurley’s go-to meal is typically grilled chicken and "lots and lots and lots" of vegetables.” A diet consisting of lean protein, like fish and chicken, along with fibrous vegetables as the primary source of carbohydrates is not only filled with essential nutrients, but it’s also key to getting and staying lean – and looking fit in a bikini at 53.

She Walks Outside
For exercise, Hurley keeps it pretty simple. First, she does a daily round of squats for "as long as it takes to brush my teeth in the morning,” which she repeats in the afternoon. Squats are an excellent exercise and integral to helping toning and strengthening your legs and glutes, while also helping to increase flexibility and mobility.
After, Hurley says she takes her dogs for a 30-minute walk outside. As a cardiovascular exercise, walking improves your cardiac health while also helping you to burn calories. It’s also known to alleviate depression and fatigue, and as a low-impact activity, it also creates less stress on the joints and is an ideal exercise for people of all ages.
While that's pretty much the gist of her exercise routine, Hurley says she does like to indulge in Pilates and yoga when she's on vacation. Both exercises are known to help strengthen and lengthen the body while focusing on the core, so it's no wonder Hurley has abs of steel.
Truthfully, Hurley's fitness and wellness secrets are pretty simple. By drinking warm water, sticking to a nutritious diet, and committing to low-impact exercise, you too could look as fabulous at fifty.
