Kate Hudson has always been one of Hollywood’s biggest fitness fanatics. The new mom and co-founder of Fabletics loves to share on social media her latest favorite exercises routine, whether it’s Pilates or dancing.

Recently the actress revealed her latest workout obsession: The Mirror

So What is the Mirror Workout?

It’s pretty much what it sounds like. It’s a high-tech “mirror” that works like an interactive home gym. Created by Brynn Putnam, the device was created for those who can’t find the time to get to the gym (like a new mom in Hudson’s case) as well as for those who live in small spaces.

Putnam told Goop that, as a resident of New York City, a city known for its small spaces, she was inspired to create something compact.

“As a working parent, fitness quickly became something I had to start doing—at least, in part—at home,” she told the site. “But I didn’t have the space to put a bike or a treadmill in my NYC apartment, and I didn’t want to give up my living room to a big piece of fitness equipment.”

Thus, the Mirror was born.

The full-length mirror, which retails for $1,500, hangs on your wall and looks like a mirror when it’s turned off. But turn it on, and it becomes your personal trainer or fitness class, complete with a LCD screen and speakers.

What Classes Are Included?

The Mirror streams over fifty new classes a week, offering a wide selection of classes, including everything from HIIT to boxing to barre. There’s also a library of on-demand workouts, available 24 hours per day to your whole household, so it’s pretty hard to miss a workout.

The workouts are streamed in real time, and according to the website, instructors will even give out “personal shout-outs to keep you motivated.” You’ll also be training alongside others in the community.

In other words, you might be working alone in your living room (or wherever you place the Mirror) but you won’t feel alone.

The classes are for all levels of fitness, which means you can customize it to suit your needs, and are taught by certified instructors from across the U.S. According to the website, a personal trainer option is coming soon, allowing you to personalize your workout even more.

But, FYI: You’ll need to pay a $39 monthly subscription for the classes and features (and that’s after you shell out $1,500 for the Mirror itself).

The Takeaway

While the initial price for the Mirror might be hefty for some, the convenience and the reasonable monthly subscription might be enough for busy new moms like Hudson to try it out.

To others, it might be a small price to pay to work out “alongside” their favorite celebrity.
